united way for jackson & george counties

Chevron and its Pascagoula Refinery employees historically contribute approximately 30 percent of the total amount raised during the annual campaign of the United Way for Jackson & George Counties. Chevron employees make their United Way pledges during a six-week campaign conducted at the refinery each fall.

Chevron volunteers serve on the United Way Allocation Committee, which determines the amount of United Way funding each affiliated organization receives.

youth health coalition’s childhood obesity initiative

Chevron Pascagoula Refinery supports the MS Gulf Coast Youth Health Coalition’s Childhood Obesity Initiative and Let’s Go! Gulf Coast program to encourage our youngest citizens to develop healthy eating habits for life. Let’s Go! Gulf Coast motivates individuals to have a daily goal of five or more fruits and vegetables, two hours or less of recreational screen time, one hour or more of physical activity and zero sugary drinks.

american red cross and home fire campaign

Chevron employees annually partner with American Red Cross (ARC) and assist with the Home Fire Campaign. This program focuses on installing free smoke alarms in neighborhoods at high risk for fires and teaching people about fire safety.

american heart association’s heart walk

The Chevron Heart Walk Team of employees and family pound the pavement each year in the Jackson County Heart Walk to raise funds for the American Heart Association. The AHA is working to improve the cardiovascular health of all Americans by 20 percent, and reduce deaths from cardiovascular diseases and stroke by 20 percent, by the year 2020.

local child care provider CPR certification

We support local childcare providers in getting CPR certified by our Refinery Plant Protection team. The team provides quarterly CPR training at no cost to local childcare providers in our community. About 50-100 childcare staff members are trained annually.

salvation army’s toys for tots drive

Since the mid-1990s, Pascagoula Refinery employees have donated thousands of dollars in toys to the local Salvation Army Angel Tree Christmas Program. Initiated and managed by refinery employees, the Refinery Christmas Toy Drive collects hundreds of toys and also raises an average of $2,500 to purchase additional toys for needy children. Chevron volunteers spend hours after work and on the weekend assisting the Salvation Army in sorting donated toys and new clothing gifts for the Angel Tree program.
