school presentations

Each school year, Chevron Pascagoula Refinery employees visit numerous local classrooms to discuss refinery operations and highlight the importance of getting an education. Additionally, representatives from our Learning & Development department, who provide training for refinery employees, regularly make career presentations at local junior and senior high schools. The refinery also hosts an annual interactive career fair for seventh grade students in Jackson, George and Greene Counties.

Since Sparky the Fire Dog became a part of Chevron Pascagoula Refinery’s Fire Department in 1994, he has carried his safety message to tens of thousands of enthusiastic youngsters throughout the Gulf Coast. The immensely popular robotic Dalmatian spends time year-round taking his fire safety message to local schools, but is always solidly booked during October - Fire Prevention Month.

red ribbon week drug awareness program

As Red Ribbon Week sponsors in area schools, Chevron Pascagoula Refinery employees provide more than 75,000 wrist bands to Gulf Coast schools.

During the annual October observance, Chevron employee sponsors deliver the red ribbons to schools where their children are enrolled or their spouses serve as educators. Employees present the stickers to the classrooms and talk briefly with the students about the dangers of drug use.

deborah washington memorial soap box derby

The All-American Soap Box Derby is a youth racing program that promotes parent-child involvement and teaches youngsters basic workmanship skills, the spirit of competition, and the perseverance to see a project through to completion. Chevron, Chevron Pascagoula Refinery’s Black Employee Network (BEN), and Moss Point Active Citizens (MPAC) partner to sponsor the annual Deborah Washington Memorial Soap Box Derby.

At Chevron, teamwork is at the heart of everything we do. We believe every child deserves the opportunity to excel, so Chevron Pascagoula Refinery is proud to support youth sports organizations and high school athletic programs throughout Jackson County.

Chevron provides funds to Jackson County youth sports leagues. We also support a number of George County and Mobile ball teams coached by Chevron employees. The Pascagoula Refinery donates to area high school athletic departments, primarily by purchasing printed program or scoreboard ads.
